A progressive dinner (US) or safari supper (UK) or food or table crawl (AUS) is a dinner party with successive courses prepared and eaten at the residences of different hosts. Usually this involves the consumption of one course at each location. People will need to RSVP and pay and book ahead online. They can also leave a note about any special dietary requirements.
They usually consist of 3 to 5 courses at most. You should allow for an hour at each venue.
The venues can be peoples homes, restaurants or a combination of both. The trick is to avoid any long drives between venues and preferably all be within walking distance.
Keep in mind seating may be at a premium so a course should be able to be eaten standing up or on a lap. Once people have booked and the menu if firmed up you can survey their preferences for each course so as to minmise wastage.
if you are looking at making restaurants or bards as part of the progressive dinner you will need to target one of their quiet nights. You should be able to negotiate a reduced rate.
Funds are made from the the amount charged exceeding costs. Also there could be sponsors for each course.
